How do I buy a beat?
A step-by-step walkthrough of buying a beat on Fairbeat — from the beat page to receiving your files.
Updated
Buying a beat takes about a minute. You can purchase as a guest or signed in. Follow these seven steps.
Heads-up on downloads: Every beat purchase comes with 3 downloads per item. You can re-download from My orders any time within the limit. After that, contact the producer if you need another link.
1. Find a beat#
Browse from any of these pages:
- Beats (
/beats) — full beat marketplace with spotlight + filters - Explore (
/explore) — curated trending + featured playlists - A producer's profile — see only their catalog
Click any beat tile to open its detail page.
2. Choose your beat usage#
On the beat detail page, scroll to the Choose your beat usage section. You'll see one card per available tier:
- Basic Lease — MP3 only, 2-year term, 100K audio streams, 2,500 distribution copies
- Premium Lease — MP3 + WAV, 3-year term, 250K audio streams, 5,000 distribution copies
- Unlimited — MP3 + WAV + Stems, 10-year term, unlimited streams and distribution
- Exclusive — full buyout, 10-year term, all formats (often marked "Offer only")
Each card shows the price in EUR and the file formats included. Click the card to select it.
3. Add to cart, or buy now#
Two buttons sit below the usage type cards:
- Add to cart — adds the selected license and keeps you on the beat page so you can keep browsing
- Buy now — adds it and jumps straight to checkout
Note: the cart can only hold beats from one seller at a time if you're shopping as a guest. Signed-in users can mix sellers freely.
4. Review your cart#
Open /checkout. You'll see:
- Every item with its cover, title, usage type, and price
- A subtotal
- A coupon code field (signed-in users only)
- If you're shopping as a guest: email and full name fields (used to deliver downloads and generate your license)
Apply a coupon if you have one — the discount appears below the subtotal.
5. Pay#
Click Proceed to payment. Fairbeat creates a secure Stripe Checkout session and redirects you to a Stripe-hosted payment page. Available methods:
- Card — any Visa, Mastercard, Amex, etc.
- Apple Pay — if your browser supports it
- Google Pay — if your browser supports it
Stripe collects your country and (if needed) billing info — Fairbeat doesn't ask for those upfront. VAT is calculated automatically based on the producer's tax registration.
6. Get your files#
After payment, you land on the Order Confirmed screen with your order number. Fairbeat polls your order in the background and the download buttons appear within seconds.
You'll also get a confirmation email with a link back to the order — the files themselves are not emailed.
7. Re-download or view your license#
Go to My orders (/my-orders) any time. For each order you can:
- Download — up to 3 times per item. The button shows the remaining count, e.g. "Download (2)".
- View usage — opens a modal with the exact rights you bought (distribution caps, file formats, term length, credit requirements).
- Invoice — downloads the PDF invoice for your purchase, with VAT details if applicable.
Filter the list by Beats / Samples / Drum kits / Services with the tabs at the top.
A few things to know#
- No usage type upgrades. Fairbeat doesn't currently support upgrading your usage type (e.g. Basic → Premium). If you need a higher tier, purchase it separately as a new order.
- Refunds are support-only. There's no in-app refund button. If something went wrong with your purchase, within 7 days.
- Samples are different. Sample WAV / STEMS / MIDI files are bought instantly with Fairbeat credits (not EUR) — see your wallet balance under Performance → Finances.
