How do I upload a beat?

Step-by-step guide to uploading a beat on Fairbeat — prerequisites, files, metadata, pricing, and publishing.

Updated June 26, 2026

Uploading a beat takes about five minutes once your files are ready. Follow these ten steps.

Before you start, set up these once: connect Stripe or PayPal under Performance → Finances, create at least one tier under Selling → Beat usages, and add an invoice template under Performance → Invoice templates. Publishing is blocked until all three exist.

1. Open the upload flow#

Click Upload in the top-right of any page, then choose the Beat card.

You can also drag a WAV or MP3 directly onto the upload modal — Fairbeat creates the draft and starts the file upload before you even reach the form.

Click Upload in the top navigation, then select the Beat card

2. Pick your publish timing#

In the 🗓️ Scheduling options card at the top, choose Publish now or Schedule for later.

Scheduling opens a date/time picker — the beat stays private until then.

3. Add your cover artwork#

Click the dropzone on the left of the Information and files card and select a square image.

  • Formats: JPG, PNG, or WebP
  • Max size: 5 MB
  • Aspect ratio: 1:1

4. Name your beat#

Type your title in the Beat title field (up to 100 characters). Add a description if you want — it's optional and supports up to 2000 characters.

If you uploaded audio first, Fairbeat auto-fills the title from the filename — feel free to overwrite it.

5. Upload your master track#

In the Master Track (Untagged) row, drop your WAV or MP3.

  • Formats: WAV or MP3
  • Max size: 200 MB
  • Required: yes

This is the file buyers receive. Uploading runs in the background — you can keep filling in the form while the progress bar fills up.

6. Add the tagged preview and stems (optional)#

The two rows below master:

  • Preview Track (Tagged) — WAV or MP3, ≤ 200 MB. This is what plays on the marketplace player.
  • Stem Files — a single ZIP archive, ≤ 1 GB. Usually gated to Premium Lease and above.

Both are optional but recommended.

7. Fill in the metadata#

In the 🏷️ Metadata card, complete:

  • Key (required) — pick the root and Major/Minor on the piano grid
  • BPM (required) — between 1 and 999
  • genres (required) — pick up to 3
  • moods, instruments, tags — optional

Once the master track finishes uploading, an AI auto-detect toggle appears in the card header — flip it on and Fairbeat fills BPM and Key for you.

8. Enable your monetization tiers#

In the Monetization card, toggle on every tier you want to sell and set its price in EUR.

You must enable at least one tier. For exclusive tiers, you can check Make offer only instead of fixing a price.

Optionally enable Free download (gated by email or social follow) and Include in bulk discount.

9. Add collaborators and YouTube Sync (optional)#

  • Collaborators — search any Fairbeat producer in the Add a collaborator field and set their revenue share. The total must not exceed 100%.
  • YouTube Sync — if your YouTube channel is connected, toggle Upload to YouTube to push the beat as a video after publishing.

10. Publish#

Click Publish Beat in the top-right.

If files are still uploading, Fairbeat waits for them. You'll then see a confirmation modal with a shareable link, View beat page, and Back to my beats.

Saving for later? Click Save Draft instead. Drafts live under My beats → Drafts and you can resume any time.
