Do I Have to Remove the Track When I Sell an Exclusive Contract?
What sellers are required to do after an exclusive license sale on Fairbeat — and what the platform does automatically.
Updated
Yes — you must manually archive the beat after an exclusive sale. Fairbeat does not automatically remove it from your catalog.
Why doesn't Fairbeat remove it automatically?#
Fairbeat gives sellers control over their own catalog. Automatically deleting or archiving a beat could cause unintended data loss, so the platform notifies you and leaves the action to you.
What should I do after an exclusive sale?#
- You'll receive a sale notification via email and in-app.
- Go to My Content → Beats.
- Find the beat and click Edit → Move to drafts (or Archive).
- The beat will no longer be visible to buyers on the marketplace.
What if I forget?#
If you leave the beat live after an exclusive sale and another buyer purchases a non-exclusive license, you may have a legal conflict. The exclusive buyer paid for sole rights, so it's important to act quickly.
Can I keep the beat up as "exclusive sold"?#
Some sellers choose to mark the beat title with "(SOLD)" and remove the pricing tiers, keeping the beat page visible for SEO. This is permitted — just make sure no new purchases can go through.
