What Are the Available Usage Types and Terms?

A breakdown of Fairbeat's four usage types — Basic Lease, Premium Lease, Unlimited, and Exclusive — and what each one allows.

Updated June 26, 2026

Fairbeat supports four usage types. You control which types to offer and set your own prices for each.

Basic Lease#

The entry-level license. Buyers get the MP3 (and optionally a WAV) but not the stems. Usage is limited — typical caps include a specified number of streams, sales units, or performances. Once they hit the cap, they need to upgrade.

Premium Lease#

Includes stems (if you provide them) and higher usage limits than Basic. A popular mid-tier for serious artists who need more flexibility without paying for full exclusivity.

Unlimited Lease#

No usage caps. Buyers can use the beat for unlimited streams, sales, and performances, but the beat stays non-exclusive — you can still sell it to other buyers.

Exclusive#

The buyer gets sole ownership of the license for commercial use. Once an exclusive sells, the beat should be taken off sale (Fairbeat does not do this automatically — you must archive it). See Can You Sell the Same Beat Twice? for details.

Which tiers should I offer?#

You are not required to offer all four. Many sellers offer Basic, Premium, and Exclusive only. The right combination depends on your pricing strategy and audience.
