How the Free Download option works for sellers on Fairbeat — who can set it up, what buyers receive, and how to gate it.

Free Download is an optional feature that lets buyers get a beat for free in exchange for an email address or a social follow.
What does the buyer receive?#
When a buyer claims a free download, they receive an MP3 of the beat. They do not receive stems or WAV files — those are gated to paid tiers.
What usage rights does a free download grant?#
A free download grants non-commercial usage rights only. Buyers can use the beat for demos, personal projects, or non-monetized content. Commercializing the beat requires purchasing a paid tier.
How do I enable it?#
In the beat edit form, scroll to the Monetization card and toggle on Free download. You can gate it behind:
- Email capture — the buyer provides their email address
- Social follow — the buyer follows your profile on a connected social platform
Can I offer free downloads on all my beats?#
Yes — you can enable or disable Free Download per beat. It does not affect your paid tier pricing.
Does a free download count as a "sale"?#
No. Free downloads appear in a separate analytics section and do not affect your revenue figures.
