How do I Dispute a Reversed Payment?
Steps to take when a payment is reversed or charged back after a sale on Fairbeat.
Updated
A reversed payment (also called a chargeback or dispute) happens when a buyer's bank or PayPal reverses a transaction after it was completed.
Step 1 — Check your notifications#
When a payment is reversed, Fairbeat sends you an email and an in-app notification with the details of the reversal.
Step 2 — Gather your evidence#
To dispute the reversal, collect:
- The order confirmation and license issued to the buyer
- Proof that the buyer downloaded or used the files
- Any communication you had with the buyer
Step 3 — File a dispute with the payment processor#
- Stripe chargebacks: Go to your Stripe dashboard and submit a response to the dispute with your evidence. Stripe gives you 7 days to respond.
- PayPal disputes: Log in to PayPal, go to the Resolution Center, and respond to the case.
Step 4 — Contact Fairbeat support#
If you need help gathering evidence or have questions, and our team will assist you.
What happens if I lose the dispute?#
The reversed amount is deducted from your Fairbeat wallet balance. If your balance is insufficient, it may go negative until the next sale covers the difference.
